Lucas grew up in Carey, Ohio and graduated from Carey High School. He graduated from The Ohio State University with a pre-law specialization in inequality and justice and with a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science. He went on to obtain his Law Degree at Case Western Reserve University School of Law and is licensed to practice law in Ohio and Kansas. In 2023, Lucas relocated to Manhattan, Kansas with his wife.

During law school, Lucas worked at the Federal Public Defender's Office, the Supreme Court of Erie County, New York, the Global Institute for Security Law and Policy, as well as the human trafficking and First Amendment practice groups at CWRU's Kramer Law Clinic. Lucas joined the Salina Branch of Kansas Legal Aid in 2023 where he practiced in domestic family law, estate planning, guardianships, medical debt forgiveness, expungements and removal from the Kansas Offender Registry. In January of 2026 Lucas joined Carter & Ault-Duell Law and will continue to focus on domestic family law, estate planning, guardianships, expungements and removal from the Kansas Offender Registry at CAD Law.

 

When he is not practicing law, he enjoys spending time with his family, reading, and caring for foster pets with special needs.
